Technological advancements have had a great impact on the ways in which we communicate.

The advent of social media has had a great impact on the ways in which we communicate. In fact, it is now used as a form of communication with friends, family and colleagues.

Social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram have become essential parts of our daily lives as they allow us to stay in touch with loved ones from afar without having to go through lengthy phone calls or face-to-face meetings. Social media allows us to share pictures of ourselves using our smartphones or tablets, upload videos about what we have just done and post messages regarding what’s going on in our lives at any given time.

Social media is defined as technology that allows for the creation

Social media is defined as technology that allows for the creation and exchange of user-generated content. The term was first popularized in a 1998 article by David S. Rose titled “Social Networking: A Revolution in the Nature of Power”.

The main purpose of social networks is to connect people with other users through online interactions such as posting comments, sharing photos, sending messages, commenting on others’ posts, etc. In addition to being an outlet for communication between friends or family members (or even strangers), social networks offer many other opportunities for business communication as well!

Social media sites include Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram.

Social media sites are used to communicate with other individuals. They include:

  • Facebook – this is a social networking site where you can add friends, view their profiles, and post messages on your wall.
  • LinkedIn – this is an online business-oriented professional network that allows users to connect with others who work in similar fields. You can send messages or join discussions about topics of interest related to your professional interests or career goals. You can also apply for jobs at companies through LinkedIn ads or find job openings directly through the website’s search tool (when it’s active).
  • Twitter – it’s a microblogging service where users post short messages called Tweets which are limited to 140 characters per tweet (or less if it includes links). The most recent tweets appear at the top of each user’s timeline so new ones will rise up over older ones unless they’re deleted by someone else first!

They can also waste your time, cause jealousy and lead to depression

Social media can be a waste of time. There is no doubt about it, social media is addictive. The more time you spend on social media, the more likely you are to get sucked into scrolling through your feed or following people who aren’t really important in your life.

Social media causes jealousy and envy because it gives us access to other people’s lives in an instant. You might see someone posting a picture of their vacation with friends or family while they’re away from home; this could cause feelings of jealousy because even though they’re enjoying themselves right now—you want that too! Why doesn’t my life look anything like theirs? How come they have so many Instagram followers while I don’t have any at all?

Social media leads to depression when one person compares themselves negatively against another person’s posts/comments on social media sites such as Facebook or Instagram (even though there are tons of positive things happening).
