This client was not a violent person and was also not a violent spouse or co-wife. I told him that I was a little skeptical about filing a divorce unless he had a very good reason for not wanting a divorce.
To make sure there was no misunderstanding, I asked him to explain why he was filing a divorce and he told me that he was leaving his ex because he wanted to pursue a career in law. I have done this before and it is not the best reason to file for divorce, but I am not sure it is enough to justify filing for divorce in a domestic violence case. Even though this client is still working.

He explains to me that he used to be good at law before he married a woman and had to file for divorce. I can’t help but wonder if he’d have known that since he was a child. I do not know what to think.
